Activity 2.1a Numerous resources are available to support you in the advancement and learning of your role. 

The following are resources of support in my care setting:

• Senior staff and cooperative manager.
• Senior colleagues, peers, and managers.
• Working on specific accounts such as timesheets, budgets, appraisal results, and performance management.
• Myself.
• A personal development plan involves you working with different people. The identification of milestones in a vision or strategy for the role and involved with working different people.

You can have enough benefits from these resources. They can not only help you well at work but can support you to overcome your shortcomings.

Activity 2.1b Care Plan Development (CPD) is a procedure which includes your job with different people.

Step 1: Goals for Personal Development

As a social and healthcare worker, you need to develop personal care plans. For that, you should have understanding and communication skills. You should realize what you can and cannot do. This helps you know what you need to progress on. This is how you can set objectives to obtain.

Step 2: Development Planning

Personal development is a challenging project for the job role. You do not know what to do or what boundaries you need. A vital step is to consult the right people for support. Communication should explain why feedback from others’ development so that quality health and safety can be maintained. 

Step 3: Development Timescales

You will observe different sources of support available. The development workbook is a great item at hand. This gives you an idea of how short you are on time and what you should do to manage the time frame of tasks essential for work. In my case, this is how I work with my manager or assessor and receive regular feedback from them.

These steps are necessary for your personal development plans. You cannot do well without this growth as this is a vital element that you need – not just in the care sector but everywhere else as well – to be considered worthy of your position.

Working in a health setting or any other industry requires collaboration with those who are set out by skills. No matter how long it will take, positive results come only when you involve others. Everyone’s constructive feedback is mandatory for personal growth.

Activity 2.2a How to use literacy, numeracy, and communication in practice?

The practical bits of your literacy, numeracy, and communication are likely to be very specific. You do not want to leave the room for interpretation. For this, you need knowledge and understanding with provided examples that can help you to progress well. Identify some of the sources you could use or access for your personal growth. Just know that polished communication skills are necessary for you to carry out the requirements of your role.

Activity 2.2b Describe how you would judge their literacy, numeracy, and communication levels.

Often the skills that are considered soft help the most. Use your literacy, numeracy, and communication to judge their expertise. If they lack these skills, then they lack the skills for health workers. And that is not a good sign for those in care. Health Education England focuses on these factors to consider how eligible a candidate is.

Activity 2.2i Explain the significance of continuing professional and personal development.

When we develop and improve the way we work, it upgrades communication skills in practice. The workbook is a great resource – a great way to learn – to show what you lack and how you can elevate your current levels of literacy. Consider this a formal learning opportunity, as this is an integral part of a robust induction programme. There are free study guides of the said care learning; you can avail of them and improve yourself.
